Korean panel maker LG Display is the only supplier of OLED TV panels in the world. The price gap between OLED TVs and LCD TVs is very large. However, the latest market research data show that the price difference between OLED TVs and LCD TVs is rapidly narrowing, LCD panel prices have begun to rebound, and OLED prices have continued to decline.
The TV industry predicts that the price difference between OLED TVs and LCD TVs will further narrow, because the price war of Chinese LCD TV manufacturers has led to a sharp drop in LCD panel prices, which has rebounded this year, while OLED panel prices have been falling.
Yonhap reported in November last year that according to IHS Markit's sales calculations, in the third quarter of 2019 (July-September), Samsung was still the leader in the global TV market with a market share of 30.3%, while LG Electronics's market share during the same period was 15.9%.
